A quartet of accomplished Richmond jazz musicians perform the iconic works of one of the legends of modern jazz bass.

Bassist and composer Jack Byrnes is one of Richmond’s busiest musicians. Jack received his Masters in Double Bass performance from the University of Delaware and has since recorded music with artists such as Harry Wilson, Ceili Galante, Maddy Curtis, and his own quartet, The BeSides. He has performed at the Williamsburg Winter Jazz Fest, Riverrock Festival, 2nd street festival, Jazz in the Country Festival, Lake Anna Jazz Fest, and has performed in multiple Shockoe Sessions Live at In Your Ears Studios.

Ayinde began playing the piano in 2008 at age 10. He quickly fell in love with the piano and jazz. In 2008, he attended Jazz Boot Camp at Richmond Youth Jazz Guild where he received his 1st formal jazz training. He continued to attend “The Guild” all the way through high school performing in the advanced ensemble, Blue Note, and the Jazz Orchestra. To date Ayinde has received full scholarships for the Berklee jazz workshop under the direction of Terri Lyne Carrington as well as the UNC jazz workshop. He was also selected for the Vail jazz workshop and is a jazz piano winner of YoungArts. Ayinde has played at many established venues including the Kennedy Center, National Sawdust, Jordan Hall, and the Berklee Performance Center.

Drummer and composer Scott Clark is at the center of the Richmond VA improvised music scene. He has curated dozens of concerts that match local musicians on bills with internationally recognized touring artists, and is co-curator of music for Out Of Your Head Records. As a composer, Scott Clark has recorded albums under his own name, as well as a frequent collaborator with many of the city's most prominent names.

Jason Scott is a professional musician and educator living in Richmond, Va. A saxophone instructor at the University of Richmond since 2007. Jason received a M.A. from New York University in Jazz Performance and Composition. Jason has performed with a variety of nationally and internationally recognized artists such as Chris Potter, Dave Binney, Ken Vandermark, Devils Workshop, Dave Holland, Barry Harris, George Coleman, Jim McNeely, Hilton Ruiz, Christian McBride, Mulgrew Miller, Grady Tate, and many more.
