Although the music the Richmond, Virginia based band The Hurricane Party plays is proudly blues based, it is important to the band not to be confined into one box. The interesting flavors of songs on their newest release Storms that will be released 10/23/26 reflects the diversity of tastes and influences of the different band members. From the funk of “Get Down” to the hard rock of “Seltzer” to the nu jazz of “Throwin’ Good Love After Bad” to the blues rock of “All Gone” to the gospel / retro soul of the title track “Storms”, the band has proven that they can play damn near anything.

Among the special guests on their second LP Storms are the legendary drummer Bernard Purdie (Aretha Franklin. Steely Dan, Ray Charles, etc.) on “Throwin’ Good Love After Bad” and famed European bluesman Giles Robson on “Have The Pie”. What Storms strongly hints at, and what is quickly evident when you see The Hurricane Party play live, is that these musical veterans burn the house down in their high energy live shows. By the second or third song, even the most cynical, jaded concertgoer will be nodding their head, tapping their feet or jumping up to dance like no one is looking.
