An evening of soulful modern jazz with a superb ensemble led by one of Richmond's best bassists.

An accomplished and versatile bassist and bandleader, Rusty Farmer is a native of Richmond where he has been performing since his early teenage years. He continued to pursue his love of music while studying at Virginia Commonwealth University where he completed his Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Studies. While at VCU, he studied with Clarence Seay, Mark Bernat, Paul Langosch, Victor Dvoskin, Doug Richards, Paul Bedell and John D’earth.

Rusty has performed with many great musicians such as Harry Allen, Hod O’Brien, Stanley Jordan, Nate Smith, Romera Lubambo, and Royce Campbell. He has performed at Lincoln Center’s Dizzy’s Club numerous times with Quatro na Bossa and at The Kennedy Center with Miramar. Rusty has also performed in Peru, India, Ireland, Australia and Russia.

The ensemble includes: Kevin Simpson (saxophone); John Conley (guitar); and Emre Kartari (drums).
