An evening of soulful modern jazz with a superb ensemble led by one of Richmond's finest bassists.

The Rusty Farmer Group started in 2016 and performed creative arrangements of pop and jazz tunes by Keith Jarrett, Miles Davis, Peter Gabriel, George Harrison, and other original compositions. This special performance reunites members of the original group to further explore new ways to blend jazz, rock, and the avant-garde.

An accomplished and versatile bassist and bandleader, Rusty Farmer is a native of Richmond where he has been performing since his early teenage years. He continued to pursue his love of music while studying at Virginia Commonwealth University where he completed his Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Studies. While at VCU, he studied with Clarence Seay, Mark Bernat, Paul Langosch, Victor Dvoskin, Doug Richards, Paul Bedell and John D’earth. Rusty has performed with many great musicians such as Harry Allen, Hod O’Brien, Stanley Jordan, Nate Smith, Romera Lubambo, and Royce Campbell. He has performed at Lincoln Center’s Dizzy’s Club numerous times with Quatro na Bossa and at The Kennedy Center with Miramar. Rusty has also performed in Peru, India, Ireland, Australia and Russia.

This performance includes John Conley (guitar); Scott Clark (drums); Zachary Cross (piano), Jason Scott (sax); Kevin Johnson (percussion); and Rusty Farmer (bass).
