Maurice Louca is one of the most gifted, prolific, and adventurous figures in Egypt’s thriving experimental arts scene. His genre-defying music bridges psychedelic Egyptian shaabi, cosmic jazz, and improvisation. In his latest project Fera, hypnotic polyrhythms take the forefront for a trance-inducing experience that invites both movement and careful listening.

Born and raised in Cairo, Egypt, Louca plays in The Dwarfs of East Agouza with avant-punk icon Alan Bishop and experimental composer Sam Shalabi. He formed the trio Lekhfa with Maryam Saleh and Tamer Abu Ghazaleh. Louca’s ensemble, Elephantine, features jazz musicians from Italy, Sweden, and Germany. اe is also known for several acclaimed solo albums, including 2021's Saet El Hazz (The Luck Hour).
