Tracked in a 3.5 hour live-session, How are you? is an LP full of thoughts on how the beauty of nature guides us through our highs and lows of life, loss and our grief, & love and its transcendence. Maddy's originals pull from a wide range of musical influences, but are constantly rooted in the freedom of jazz and is deeply inspired by the vocabulary of the great Duke Ellington.

On top of Maddy's composition, her tone and phrasing harken back to the great jazz and old Hollywood vocalists of yesteryear like Ella Fitzgerald, Judy Garland, and Doris Day. Critics have described her performances as "hauntingly beautiful" (DC Metro Theatre Arts) and "soulful beyond her years" (Simon Cowell, American Idol Season 9). And most recently, the Auricular described Maddy as "a soulful vocalist who brings a retro-jazz sound that feels like it stepped right out of the World War II era".
