Modern jazz performed by a trio led by a Grammy-nominated drummer.

Jonah David is a Grammy-nominated drummer/percussionist who has performed and recorded with Matisyahu, Costello, Roots Tonic, Josh Werner, Bill Laswell, Braindance, Joshua Nelson, King Django, and the Brooklyn Funk Essentials.

Jonah began his career at Hopewell Baptist Church playing and recording with Joshua Nelson from 1993 – 2005. In 2000, he toured the US with King Django and Europe with The Brooklyn Funk Essentials. Jonah was the house drummer at the NuYorican Poets Cafe’s open mic “Words” and “All That” supporting acts such as Flaco Navaja, muMs da Schemer, El Da Sensei, Immortal Technique, Goodfella Mike G., Eric Sermon, Scratch, Supernatural, Wordsworth, RZA, Talib Kweli and Butta (Rock Steady Crew’s Anniversary Band), on Bobbito Garcia’s label, Fruit Meat Records. Most notably, Jonah is an original member of the Grammy nominated band Roots Tonic. The group recorded 3 albums including two RIAA certified gold records, Live At Stubbs and Youth and one DVD Nowhere to Be, while backing Epic recording artist Matisyahu. Additionally, he has toured and recorded with groups such as Jean Grae, Joan Amadillo (Lead singer of Les Miserable, and Miss Saigon), Soul Cycle, Printz Board (Black Eyed Peas), Prism Eye, Costello, Joseph Israel (Universial Records), The Live Debate, Kosha Dillz (Wild’n’Out), Kate Diaz, Braindance, Chris Dowd (Fishbone), Ettienne Stadjwick (Richard Bona), Weldon Irvine, Moss Bluff, Bruce Williams, Dominik Kanza, Maggie Kim, Jesca Hoop (Columbia Records) and No Discipline. Jonah has been an active duty musician in the US Navy since 2010 and was a member one of its premier bands, the US Naval Academy Band.

Jonah has toured throughout Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, South America, South Africa, Asia, the Middle East and the US. He has appeared on two videos for MTV, The Jimmy Kimmel Show, Late Night with Dave Letterman, Jay Leno, Oprah Winfrey Show, Carson Daly, Late Night with Craig Ferguson, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Bigtime with Steve Harvey, Good Morning America, Much Music (Canada), Jools Holland Show (England) and the Late Show (Ireland).
