Sunday Soundtracks for August dives deep into experimentation, bringing noteworthy artists from New York and Philadelphia to the Révéler stage, as well as a fresh configuration for a pair of musicians who’ve been key players in a number of classic Richmond acts.

From New York City, Chris Tignor is a violinist, composer, and performer who plumbs the depths of what can be done in a live context. With the mantra “No loops / No tracks”, his playing incorporates both physical resonance via use of tuning forks, and a unique software he’s created that responds to his playing. Tignor has collaborated with Rachel Grimes, Helios, This Will Destroy You and many others.

Emmy-winner and Gold Record recipient Jeff Zeigler is a musician, producer, and engineer based in Philadelphia. Jeff’s recent solo work has explored modular synthesis, and this is a rare opportunity to hear that work outside of his home studio. A longtime fixture of Philadelphia’s music scene, Jeff has recorded albums by Kurt Vile, t he War on Drugs, A Sunny Day in Glasgow, and numerous others.

Our local performers on this show are Jon Hawkins (Opin, Navi, Thumpr) and Landis Wine (Opin, White Laces, Private Practice) who previously appeared at Sunday Soundtracks performing with the trio Opin. Here, Jon and Landis continue their collaborative exploration through live percussion, synthetic textures, processed guitar, and a few more tricks up their sleeve.
