On Halloween Eve we explore night shadows within a magical, intoxicating cabaret show featuring the astonishing ZAROVE (the sounds of Eastern empires and weird rock music), vampire burlesque, and Richmond's own beguiling emcee, QING BLAZE. It's a an evening of performance artistry and wild, freaky surprises.

This special HALLOWEEN edition of the cabaret features music sets by ZAROVE, an ethereal music experience with Bulgarian roots featuring unusual drums, bass, and a variety of electrified Turkish banjos. Guitarist and banjo alchemist Gary Kalar has been making music as a performer and composer for over 25 years. He’s played many stringed instruments, in many styles, with diverse musicians from all over the world, including Mucca Pazza, Miramar, Yeni Nostalji, Ronnie Malley and Lamajamal, Selim Sesler, and many others. Drummer Pippin Barnett has been playing drums with some of the avant-garde’s most beloved groups and composers for over 40 years. As a member of Curlew, Orthotonics, and Nimal, as well as drumming for Fred Frith, Tom Cora, John Zorn, Nicollas Collins, and many others, Barnett has played all over the map, figuratively and literally. Bassist Stevie Ray Williams completes the duo's sonic circuits with uncanny intuition.

The show is emceed by QING BLAZE (Style Weekly's Best of Richmond, 2025) a powerhouse performer who challenges the boundaries of burlesque and drag. Based in Richmond, Virginia, Qing Blaze rules his stage with sensual story telling and a love for classic R&B and soul music while creating a unique blend of draglesque. Inspired by kings of the past like Stormé DeLarverie and Gladys Bentley, Qing is the embodiment of gender-bending royalty. Qing is one of the four founding members of the Nu Rodeo Caldonia, a queer POC performance art collective based in Richmond, Virginia. You can catch him humping stages all across the DMV area and beyond.

The show also features sets from a cast of incredible variety and burlesque performers including: The Vampire Goddess of Burlesque Gordita Maricona; comedian, burlesque performer, and the finest human trash can J.McClain; and the ferocious dancer and vibe conjurer Darshe Dazzles.

This event will also provide support to He She Ze and We, a non-profit that supports Transgender and Nonbinary people by empowering their families, communities, and allies to create life-saving, inclusive environments.
