An evening of India-infused rock and roll performed by a stellar ensemble forged in RVA's molten music scene.

Bandleader Prabir Mehta’s musical development straddles all things rooted in contemporary guitar and his childhood growing up in India surrounded by a family of classical musicians. The sound ends up as a unique musical broth, taking contemporary guitar laden rock music and blending in Hindi and Gujarati lyrics, electric sitars, raga based riffs, and several other layers inspired by an Indian upbringing. The musicians involved in this project are what makes all this possible. Prabir’s guitar and voice are presented in a harmonious balance between Kelli Strawbridge’s backbeat, Jeremy Flax’s melodic bass rhythms, and Kenneka Cook’s beautiful harmonies.

The group's second album, LONG AFTER THE EMPIRE, explores different locations in India: places where normal people live, places where spirituality exists alongside booming capitalism, places where you can’t buy a beer unless you have a non-Indian passport, places where you realize how much you love someone for loving you. Mehta sings in three languages: English, Gujarati, and Hindi. The band’s hook-laden rock and roll suffused with Indian elements includes layered use of tanpura drones and harmoniums.
