MOSES + TENNISHU

MOSES + TENNISHU

Two rising stars of modern jazz pair up for a one-night-only performance that celebrates the music that inspires them while exploring entirely new territory.

Born and raised in Richmond, VA, now based in Raleigh-Durham NC, Dexter Moses is a saxophonist, composer, and educator. Throughout his career he’s performed and recorded with top jazz artists such as Branford Marsalis, Delfeayo Marsalis & the Uptown Jazz Orchestra @ the Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival, Joey Calderazzo, Nasheet Waits, Nnenna and Pierce Freelon's GRAMMY nominated Ancestars, Lenora Zenzalai Helm @ Carnegie Hall NYC, Igmar Thomas’ Revive Big Band, and many more. Moses' highly acclaimed self-released debut album, New Perspective (2024), highlights his maturity as he sonically represents a human experience while staying true to the jazz tradition. In addition to his performance career, Moses serves as a saxophone professor at his alma mater, North Carolina Central University, and Duke University.

Tennishu is a Richmond-based saxophonist whose expressive tone and genre-fluid approach bridge jazz tradition with modern soul and rhythmic innovation. Since joining Butcher Brown in 2017, he has brought a distinctive voice to stages nationally and internationally, shaping the band’s forward-thinking sound with melodic clarity and improvisational depth. His solo work, including More To The Story and More Of The Story, highlights his ability to make the saxophone both narrator and centerpiece — blending intimacy, power, and storytelling into every performance.

The quintet includes Dexter Moses (saxophone); Tennishu (saxophone and trumpet); Garen Dorsey (piano); Cameron Ralston (bass); and Kofi Shepsu (drums).

With only 100 seats, shows at Révéler are intimate and immersive. A romantic venue with exquisite sound and dreamy vibes, Révéler offers a unique selection of cocktails, wines, beers, bubbles, and non-alcoholic beverages. Our kitchen delivers small plates crafted with care.
