For one exclusive night, vocalist Kia Bennett presents "Under The Covers" - sultry, groovy soundscapes of soul, R&B, and jazz classics of the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s, seamlessly intertwined with select original compositions. With her signature warmth, sensuality, and vocal richness, Bennett transforms familiar melodies into something both intimate and unforgettable. Come and get this serenade!
A native of Richmond, Virginia and a product of Howard University, Kia made her introduction into entertainment while singing with former Washington D.C. group "Entyme" along with other respected soul artists Geno Young, Sy Smith, and Yahzarah. Kia is a member of the new school RAMP (Roy Ayers Music Production) whose musical contributions provided the world with samples for hits like A Tribe Called Quest's "Bonita Applebum", Mary J. Blige's "My Life" and Erykah Badu's "Amerykah's Promise". Ms. Bennett is best noted for her background vocals, which supported international recording artists Roy Ayers, D'Angelo, Ledisi, Michael Bolton, and others. She is also formerly half of the singing duo, Kia Bennett & Desiree Jordan as KiDe’. Kia recently reached a new career milestone at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards. She contributed her vocal talents to the track “Tuesday’s Thoughts” on Mad Skillz’s “Words For Days, Volume 1,” which took home the Grammy for Best Spoken Word and Poetry Album. Kia has also acted in thirteen movies/series on Netflix, BET+, Showtime, AppleTV, Hulu, and theaters, including Harriet, The Good Lord Bird, and Dopesick.
Kia's dynamic band - Control the Room - features: Trevelle Harris (drums); Trevon Jones (bass); Aaron Booker (guitar); Anthony Lyons (keys); and Talton Manning (sax).
