An evening of exquisite and intimate songs crafted and performed by three remarkable singer-songwriters.

Jake Manzi has been on a journey, and he’s ready to tell you all about it. Raised in western MA and residing in Los Angeles, Jake’s unique brand of folk rock has earned him significant acclaim, sold-out hometown shows, and opening slots for Dawes, NRBQ, Ron Sexsmith, M. Ward, Lori McKenna, and more. After a decade of writing songs, making records, and touring across the country, Manzi presents his third full-length record, Getting Somewhere. Recorded mostly-live at Recorders in LA, it’s a confident, assured collection of no-frills Americana gems.

Getting Somewhere sees Manzi at his best, roadtipping through eleven songs that start in nostalgia and end up landing firmly in the present. “When you go, the trouble begins,” he sings, heartsick, in the first track. By the end of the record, accompanied by whirling organ and distant, roomy-sounding drums, things have changed: “I’m finally waking up.” Written during a period of perpetual motion—bouncing from apartment to apartment, undergoing sweeping growth both artistically and personally—Getting Somewhere is an LA record in spirit and sound, with Manzi's New England heart beating at its center.

Inspired by the intensity and moodiness of emo rockers like Gerard Way and Avril Lavigne, but with the grace and softness of indie bedroom R&B, Abby Huston crafts music that is both an unexpected blend of genres and vulnerable personal encounters. The Richmond-based musician’s sophomore album AH HA came together at the beginning of lockdown and reflects on Huston’s personal relationships within the abrupt social stop. Additionally, it’s a wink to their past self and recognition of how far their musical journey has come.

Huston doesn’t make pop-punk music — their music a mix of the softness found in R&B crooners and indie rock ballads — but their craft is indebted to the emo revival of the early 2000s. Their music might not recall the desperate howl of Gerard Way or the battle cry of Avril Lavigne, but Abby Huston wouldn’t be making music without their influence.

Riley Ely is an artist based in Richmond, Virginia whose musical work seeks to find comfort in not knowing. His latest and first studio album “Waiting” is full of questions big and small. Synthesizing influences like Bon Iver, John Martyn, Sun Kil Moon, and Nina Simone and working closely with producer/bass player/fellow songwriter Taylor Corker (TCYC), Ely creates a blend of ambient texture and americana soul.
