Rumble Trio and the Hot Seats are bands that enjoy injecting influences and sounds that come from outside the genre pools in which they swim. One of the influences that unite both groups is the musical innovation and take no prisoners satire of Frank Zappa. Join both groups and a host of special guests from the RVA music scene as they tackle Zappa and the Mothers’ 1968 masterpiece We’re Only In It For The Money along with a handful of other Zappa classics. An evening for lovers of music, pageantry, and humor.

Formed in 2023 Rumble Trio was originally intended to be the house band for a live sketch comedy show. Described as “East Coast Surf”, they combine surf rock, traditional Latin music, redneck jazz, postpunk and film scores from westerns. The instrumental trio consists of James Seretis- Guitar, Gabe Santamaria- Bass and Aaron Zarrow- Drums. Their diverse repertoire includes music from TV, film and video games, 60s & 70s pop songs, jazz and Latin standards and instrumental surf classics.

The Hot Seats play stringband music, encompassing old time, bluegrass, ragtime, country, and general freakout music. Based in Richmond, VA, the group has toured the US and Europe including performances at the Shetland Folk Festival, Orkney Folk Festival, SXSW, Floyd Fest, Bristol Rhythm and Roots Festival, Richmond Folk Festival, and Edinburgh Festival Fringe (including a Herald Angel Award in 2006). Since 2020, the band’s original core of Ben Belcher (banjo, bass, fiddle), Josh Bearman (mandolin, banjo, guitar) and Jake Sellers (percussion bass) have been joined by Rudy Bee (fiddle, tuba, accordion, piano), JM Nobile (mandolin, guitar), and Charles Arthur (banjo, fiddle, resophonic guitar).
