Richmond artist Ali Thibodeau, better known as Deau Eyes, is a proud double Gemini; she’s also living proof that the stereotypes are wrong. Thibodeau’s newfound focus on what we’ve made, and what we’ll leave behind, forms the basis of her latest record: "Legacies". Deau Eyes finds the pain but, more importantly, the beauty in “having this last, dying love, but not having it at all.” “[Legacies] boasts a sonic maturation that's still firmly anchored by Thibodeau's standout voice and songwriting prowess.” — NPR Music (Slingshot's 2023 Artists to Watch)
Mackenzie Roark's list of musical projects and recordings over the years is vast and constantly evolving. From Charleston to Asheville to New York City, this Richmond, Virginia-based musician has played just about every type of gig. Over the years, she's dialed in her craft by way of hundreds of performances in bars, restaurants, and breweries, as well as festivals and major venues.
Erisy Watt's art is in connection: tracing the invisible vessels between an ocean’s black depth and a mountain peak’s twinkling tip, tracking the slow immensity of glacial paths to the monstrous canyons they carve. She ties her insides to the outside, taking tips from the cosmos, a naturalist with a knapsack of stardust, making luminescent the dark parts of her path, finding a way forward. No Depression magazine described Erisy's debut recording as “an exercise in what contemporary folk today sounds like at its peak.”
