With a first name meaning “gathering of singing, dancing, and storytelling,” Céilí Galante is an artist on a mission to blend roots traditions with modern ideas to allow for pure expression of emotion. Their diverse background in bluegrass, old-time, jazz, and choral traditions has allowed them to be a collaborator to all- whether it be at the Winnipeg Crankie Festival performing with Juno award winners The Duhks, collaborating with the late jazz pianist Larry Willis, dancing and singing with their folk band The Great Beforetimes, acting in the first all-femme production of Dave Malloy’s Ghost Quartet at Firehouse Theatre, or hosting Richmond Virginia’s beloved music show Shockoe Sessions Live. Galante’s arranging and writing in their EP If Clouds Could Sing is a meditation on moving on, healing, and finding your voice after tragedy.
Joining them on the band stand: Brett Jones on guitar, Jack Byrnes on bass, and Karl Tietze on drums. M Brett Jones opens the night with a set, featuring Brett Jones, Garen Dorsey, and Daniel Richardson.
A portion of the proceeds from this event will be donated to the YWCA of Richmond.
